Meet Andy – Emerging Talent Manager
I have the great role of managing our apprenticeship scheme here at YBS. My role sees me getting involved in all things linked to our apprentices from recruitment to on-going support to all our apprentices.
For more than 15 years I've worked in various areas of Learning and Development within YBS Group and within the holiday industry for one of the UK's largest tour operators both overseas and in the UK. I don't think I saw myself in this role when I graduated in Interior Architecture/Design with Business Law and Management many years ago. One thing is for sure – my Scottish accent is becoming more Yorkshire on a daily basis!
My current role sees me supporting all of the apprenticeships within the YBS Group from new apprentices starting out on their journey to existing staff undertaking a wide range of standards. I am also fortunate enough to be on some of the advisory groups designing the new apprenticeship standards and regularly present the apprenticeship work that YBS Group are doing to the Building Society Association and around Leeds and Bradford to various schools and colleges.
I've been at YBS Group for 11 years now and have seen the business change over the years through mergers, the launch of new products and services but always with a strong customer service and people development ethos. I get to work with great people on a day to day basis at different levels within the Group and love that they share the same passion as me in supporting others to develop their careers.
YBS certainly offers a great career pathway across a number of business areas whether you're working in one of our head offices or throughout the UK in one of our branches. Every single one of our colleagues regardless of role strive to deliver a great customer experience to both our external customers and internal colleagues and I'm proud of the culture that we have created and display on a daily basis.
